Equipment and Facilities
Below is a list of equipment and facilities available in the Fukushima Laboratory. Instruments such as NMR, XRD, and various microscopes are accessed through shared facilities within the university.

Used for purification of synthesized monomers and other small molecules.

Used for purification of polymer samples.
High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC)

Used for molecular weight analysis of polymers in GPC mode. Equipped with RI and PDA detectors and an autosampler.
Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC)

Rigaku DSCvesta
Used to measure melting points and glass transition temperatures of materials.
Simultaneous Thermal Analysis System (TG-DTA)

Enables simultaneous measurement of thermal decomposition and heat absorption/emission. Includes autosampler.
Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer (FTIR)

JASCO FT/IR-4X
Used for structural analysis of synthesized molecules.
UV-Visible Spectrophotometer

Used to measure absorbance of synthesized molecules.
Multi-Sample Nanoparticle Size Measurement System

Otsuka Electronics nanoSAQLA
Measures particle size via dynamic light scattering. Capable of sequential measurement of five samples.
Quartz Crystal Microbalance (QCM)

Seiko EG&G QCM922A
Used to study polymer degradation and adsorption behavior. Equipped with 4-channel multiplexer, incubator, flow cell system, and EQCM compatibility.
Contact Angle Measurement System

Kyowa Interface Science DMs-401
Used to evaluate surface wettability. Includes three-phase kit and automatic dispenser.
Non-Contact Spectroscopic Film Thickness Measurement System

Filmetrics KLA F20e-UV
Used to measure thin film thickness.
Spin Coater

MIKASA MS-B100
Used to fabricate polymer thin films on substrates such as silicon wafers and QCM crystals.
Ultra-Low Temperature Reactor

Used for polymerization reactions below 0°C.
Synthetic Reactor

Autoclave-type reactor enabling synthesis at speeds several times faster than conventional heating.
Absorbance Microplate Reader

Rotary Evaporator

Used to remove solvents from reaction mixtures. Includes cooling system, pump control, and solvent recovery unit.
